Drinking Tonight? Tips to Not Wreck Your Fitness Plan


Going out tonight? I’m not going to tell you what to do, but you have to know that alcohol can wreck your fitness goals. So be smart and consider following these quick tips;

1. Skip the beer.
I like a good beer as much as the next girl, but if you’re looking to trim down, beer is probably your biggest enemy. Where do you think that freshman fifteen came from? Beer is full of empty calories and carbs. And if you want to lose weight, carbs are a no-no.

2. If you drink mixies, go clear.
Clear liquors like vodka and gin are about as low calorie as alcohol can be, as opposed to whiskeys and other brown liquors. Mix with tonic or club soda and you’re getting the lowest calorie drink possible. And if you’re really brave, you can mix with water.

3. Choose a dry red over white wine.
Study after study has shown the benefits of red wine for our hearts and more. So it stands to reason that it’s one of your best alcohol choices. Plus a dry red has less sugar than a white. And you know we need to watch that sugar.

4. Alternate alcohol with water.
If you’re making a night of it, drink a glass of water after each drink. This accomplishes a few things. First, it will cut down on the quantity of alcohol you drink throughout the might. Secondly, it will keep you hydrated, which will lessen the chances of a hangover, among other things (which means you won’t feel so bad tomorrow that you can’t workout!).
